چکیده

The present paper investigates the motion dependence of human impedance perception ability, especially in the stiffness perception through experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that the desirable hand displacement changes according to the robot stiffness, and that the deep somatic sensation has an important role in the stiffness perception. A preliminary training test is conducted for directing to apply the experimental findings into the development of an effective impedance perception training system based on cognitive therapeutic exercise. Analysis of Human Perception Ability for Robot Impedance

This paper examines human impedance perception ability during manipulation of an impedance-controlled robot, especially as regards perception accuracy and differential limen. In the experiments, a subject is instructed to move the handle of an impedance-controlled robot and to perceive the presented value of the robot impedance. Experimental results show that both motor control ability and soma...

Contrast and assimilation in motion perception and smooth pursuit eye movements.

The analysis of visual motion serves many different functions ranging from object motion perception to the control of self-motion. The perception of visual motion and the oculomotor tracking of a moving object are known to be closely related and are assumed to be controlled by shared brain areas. We compared perceived velocity and the velocity of smooth pursuit eye movements in human observers ...

Bio-mimetic impedance control of robotic manipulator for dynamic contact tasks

A human performs a variety of skillful movements by adjusting dynamic characteristics of his or her musculoskeletal system according to a task involved. Such characteristics of human movements can be described by mechanical impedance parameters. If the regulation mechanism of human impedance properties during the task can be clarified and modeled, there is a possibility that human skillful stra...

Recognition of animal locomotion from dynamic point-light displays.

To date, studies of biological motion have been restricted to displays of humans filmed (or synthesised by computer) with lights attached at the major joints. Observers can readily extract meaning from such displays. There have been no studies to assess the generality of this ability by assessing observers' accuracy in identifying various animals solely on the basis of biological motion. An exp...

Efficiencies for parts and wholes in biological-motion perception

People can reliably infer the actions, intentions, and mental states of fellow humans from body movements (Blake & Shiffrar, 2007). Previous research on such biological-motion perception has suggested that the movements of the feet may play a particularly important role in making certain judgments about locomotion (Chang & Troje, 2009; Troje & Westhoff, 2006). One account of this effect is that...
